Andrew Vega was an avergae high school student in Colorado, when his English teacher gave him a simple assignment: write a short story, about anything you wanted, and present it to the class.
Andrew decided to write his story about one of his favorite TV characters: BRIAN GRIFFIN from Family Guy.
But he didn't write just any story... he wrote.a story about how Brian randomly decided to become a doctor, joined by his new "best frind..." a teenage dentist, who was partially blind.
The class seemed to love it... unorthodox, somewhat original, and a somehow perfect blend of both humor and drama.
And then... one story turned into two... which tuned into three... and before long, Andrew had created an entire mini-collection of stories, all about Brian, and each showing him doing a different job (mostly in medicine).
The stories were popular around the school. Andrew would hand out copies to anyone who would take them. And everyone who read them loved them.
Years passed. Andrew entered his college program, and the stories were all but forgotten about.
Then, in 2018, he signed up for a Scriptwriting for Film and Video class, taught by a local screenwriter and published author. In one of the first classes of the course, the professor revealed what their major semester assignment would be: each student would be tasked with creating their own concept for an original TV series, and present it to a friend of the instructor--an actual network producer.
So... Andrew dug up the copies of his old stories... and started making some changes.
He changed the names of the main characters. He gave them personalities. He created an entire city and world where they would live and work. Then, he gave the series a name.
And with that... TAILS OF A DOG'S LIFE was officially born.
Over the ensuing years, after he left that course (despite being able to present his project to anyone), Andrew would grow his concept even further, drafting episode plots, screenplays, and more.
In 2022, Andrew took a playwriting class, where he put many of these concepts to life, by writing several short scenes featuring some of the characters and stories from across the city of Rockport. His professor offered him valuable feedback that would continue to evolve the development of the concept.
That same year, Andrew started looking for an artist to continue bringing his vision to life, in a whole new way. After he got a basic design for his lead character, he found Ana, an artist from ROmania offering commisssioned work as a means to put her studies of comic desing and illustration to use. In May 2022, they agreed to the first few character renders they would create together. In a matter of weeks, Andrew had some fresh designs for his most prominent characters... and he fell in love. Since then, Andrew and Ana have grown their partnership, with the idea of improving their art pieces and building their universe as they went.
Today, TAILS OF A DOG'S LIFE continues to grow and evolve, forming a presence across various platforms and mediums. The series is loved by fans across the world, with the hopes to expand its reach and continue being a mainstay in the anthro and medical creative worlds for years to come.
In the bustling metropolis of Rockport, Pennsylvania, CHARLIE PETERSON was a o\dog with an unrecognized dream... to become the first dog to pursue a career in medicine in the city's history. The dream only came to fruition when he was given the opportunity to shadow DR. DAVE MADISON, a physician working at the city's elite medical facility, ROCKPORT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL... before an unlikely situation turned his mentor into his patient. After defying the odds and saving a life, Charlie was given the chance to pursue his new career full time, even though he hadn't even earned his college degree... let alone a doctorate. After a moment of hesiation, Charlie agreed, becoming the newest staff member of Rockport Memorial, and realizing a dream (and a passion) he didn't even know he had, and "Dog-tor Peterson_ continued to prove to himself and his doubters that a dog can and will succeed in medicine, in a city where anything and everything is possible.
But Charlie wasn't alone in this adventure... he was quickly joined by his best frind, DR. ANTHONY VASQUEZ. Anthony was still fairly new to Rockport, having only lived there for a year or so, but his story was almost just as unique (if not more so) than Charlie's. Anthony was only a teenager, and before he even got his driver's license, he got his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from a presitigous university in Colorado, before deciding to move out of his mother's house, and begin building his life in the northeast. He chose to move to Rorckport due to the amount of ptoential that the city was showing... and how he only had to go about an hour or so to get a "real" Philly cheeseteak, straight from the source. Anthony moved in next to Charlie, and they became very fast friends, as he also accepted a position as the department lead of the struggling dental practice at Rockport Memorial Hospital (yes, apparently those exist). Anthony re-shaped the practice to where it became well-respected and well-liked among both patients and staff. Then, Charlie came along, and before he knew it, Anthony was filling a cavity on a dog before teaching him about dentistry, which (unbeknownst to him) sparked a new passion for him--to care for anyone and everyone that walked through his doors, and fight for justice instead of judgement for all animals. Thius uktunatekt lead him to create what would become known as ALL SPECIES DENTAL CARE, the first and only dental practice of its kind, catering to both human and animal patients, while also giving career opportunities to those who would otherwise struggle to find success. Before he knew it, he had a grizzly bear, a tiger, and even a shark as part of his staff, and continued to welcome in new emploiyees of all shapes, sizes, colors, and fur levels. And even thoughe he was almost completely blind (and maybe had a few screws loose), he kept the clinic running with his own two hands, and built a legacy for himself that he could be proud of... all before being allowed to legally enter a bar.
Together, Anthony and Charlie foged their own paths of success, despite facing multiple hurdles along theway. But they did it with each other, as friends, and their challenges and triumphs only made them even more inseparable. With the help of their new friends and collegaues, they proved to the world that anyone can be anything they want to be... in a city where anything and everything is possible. TAILS OF A DOG'S LIFE isn't just about the dogs of the universe... it's about the bears, the penguins, the crocodiles, the wolves, and everything in between... and yes, even the humans too. It explores what happens when anthropomophic animals try to live and suvive in a world built and run by humans, while understanding how these creatures can find success within the medical world, and maintain their lives outside of the operating room or dentist's office.
Come experience what makes Rockport different... and how the city is constantly evolving, even despite the ongoing struggle for acceptance, equality, and inclusion... and why everyone who lives there decides to call it home anyways.
